MENINGITIS IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM **

Policy: 

In compliance with California state law and the University of California policy, the Student Health Center notifies incoming students about risks of meningitis, encourages immunization and makes immunizations available.

In accordance with most recent recommendations from American College Health Association and American Council on Immunization Practices, the Student Health Center recommends students living in residence halls be immunized against Meningitis.

The Student Health Center also complies with CDC travel guidelines in advising students to be immunized when traveling to areas in the world where Meningitis immunization is recommended.

Procedure: 

Student Health Center staff participate in summer orientation programs and advise participating
students and parents about Meningitis immunization recommendations and availability.

All incoming new students are sent information prior to coming to campus which includes current recommendations for Meningitis immunization.

Student Health Center website displays recommendations for immunizations and how these may be obtained.
